Rotary Club of Cedar Creek Lake Celebrates First Peace Pole Dedication
The Rotary Club of Cedar Creek Lake, in partnership with the Gun Barrel City Beautification Committee, recently celebrated the dedication of its first Peace Pole at Gun Barrel City Park. The park now features both the newly installed Peace Pole and the Beautification Committee’s popular Big Blue Chair, creating a welcoming space that reflects community pride, unity, and hope. The Peace Pole project is part of a broader Rotary initiative to promote peace and goodwill throughout the Cedar Creek Lake area. Following the installation in Gun Barrel City, the Club plans to place three additional Peace Poles in Tool, Mabank, and Kemp. Standing eight feet tall, the Peace Pole displays messages on all four sides. Two sides feature inscriptions in English, while the other two present the same messages in Spanish. The messages read, “May Peace Prevail on Earth” and “Let There Be Peace on Earth and Let It Begin with Me.” Peace Poles are recognized worldwide as symbols of humanity’s shared desire for peace. The Rotary Club of Cedar Creek Lake believes that meaningful change begins at the local level and with individual actions. The message, “Let It Begin with Me,” serves as a reminder that each person can help build a more peaceful world through kindness, understanding, and service. “The Peace Pole is more than a monument,” shared Rotary Club representatives. “It is a reminder that peace starts within each of us and grows through our actions in our homes, our communities, and beyond.” The Club remains committed to Rotary International’s mission of promoting peace, fostering goodwill, and serving communities around the world.
